Our last big Murder event was Death on the Nile. We were
back to Joy Swift for this one. A weeks trip down the Nile
visiting the famous landmarks. The Valley of the Kings that’s
Tutankhamen's tomb, Ancient Egyptian Temples, Abu Simbel and the
wholly grail for Agatha Christie fans the Old Cataract Hotel.
The busy Tourists itinerary viewing all these historic places is
just the background to the fiendish murder plot that unfolds the
second you step aboard the boat. After checking in to your
on-suit cabin and going down to dinner your Egyptian guide’s
introduction speech is rudely interrupted by the shout of
someone’s been murdered.

From this moment your leisurely cruise down the Nile is
nothing but. The onboard crew work amazingly hard to keep you in
the luxury as westerners expect. While the cast do their best to
involve you in the complicated unfolding plot involving incest
greed and romance. As usual the inspector arrives to control the
murder investigations while the floating hotel gracefully works
its way down the Nile to the backdrop of Egyptian ruins. This
must have been the most exhausting week I have ever spent. |

One morning we had an early start 3am to be exact for 6-7 hour
trip across the desert to Abu Simbel an archaeological site
comprising two massive rock temples in southern Egypt on the
western bank of Lake Nasser. |
As we were usually up late investigating and interrogating in
the on deck bar we thought we may as well just stay up and with
a few Vodka and Red bull's we were still wide awake at three and
eagerly jumped on the luxury coach for a Party. However all
those that retired early about 7pm were still tired and the
coach lights were extinguished and they carried on with their
sleep. We just sat their wide eyed and watched the Sahara desert
do not very much for the next six hours. Luckily no one is
murdered on the excursions so you are able to take on the
spectacular scenery and historic monuments. Arriving bake on
board some hours later you are thrown straight back into the
murder intrigue of the evolving plot. |

The week’s proceedings involve two fancy dress nights as
well as a native Egyptian night. This meant finding two good
costumes we could keep for over a week that were light and
compact enough for airplane travel. The theme for the first
outfit was black and white and white. All of us were
pretending to be workers or cast from the famous Agatha
Christie film “Death on the Nile” and attending a
celebration for a follow up film about to be made. The Theme
for the second week was Red. We spent ages looking for
costumes. Most hire costumes we liked were too heavy and the
rental costs expensive for the length of time we wanted
them. It was looking for these costumes we come across a
wholesaler selling the ideal costumes for us. While away Dee
who was looking for a new career decided there was a good
market in these sorts of costumes and decided on arrival
home to start her own on line busyness selling fancy dress
costumes. http://www.dees-fancydress.co.uk two years later
and we now have a thriving business. Our experience in
finding our own costume both cryptic and flamboyant helps us
help our customers through the mine field of finding just
the right costume. |

We are now looking forward to our next
Murder weekend and once again will be booking through the
best in Murder weekends authors Joy Swift. I would like
to thank all of the actors who over the past 20 years have
made our weekends very special and very special thank you to
Joy Swift for all the sleepless nights trying to resolve the
complicated puzzles that make up the very clever plots.
