For England and St George!
2009: Thursday, April 23
The day commemorating St George, Christian martyr and patron saint of England. Born in Cappadocia (eastern Asia Minor). In 1222 the Council of Oxford ordered that his feast, on April 23, be celebrated as a national festival. Then in the 14th century England adopted him as our Patron Saint. England's patron Saints day doesn't get celebrated as much as St Andrew, Scotland or St Patrick of Ireland or St David of Wales, but England Football Cricket and Rugby fans proudly wear the St Georges Flag to support their team.
